Did you see my spot on The Today Show last week? It was about un-retirees – people who have retired but want to come back to the workforce, or those who don’t want (or can’t afford) to retire.
Georgie, the host, challenged me when I said that these people should not rule out the possibility of staying in their current job – because employers have to cast their net a lot wider to source enough quality people to hit their goals.
In fact, according to a recent report by Korn Ferry,
“Australian companies will face a talent shortage of 739,000 highly skilled workers by 2020 and 2.2 million by 2030”.
The truth is, if we are going to survive this talent shortage we have to rethink our entire recruitment process.
