Stop writing boring job ads – you’re squandering your opportunity to hire great people.

We are currently in a bubble where there are more candidates available for work than job openings. When the economy recovers our skills shortage is going to be worse than the one we had pre-Covid.

Don’t squander this opportunity by writing boring job ads (and a quick look at any job board will tell you that most job ads are dead boring!)

Start with a compelling purpose. How do you impact your clients or the community-at-large? This has counterintuitively become more important since Covid.

What are your values? What values alignment do you want from the candidates that are applying for your role?

What are they going be achieving in your role (as opposed to doing)? Set out your expectations so that you magnetically attract the right people and repel the wrong ones.

You will save yourself a lot of time and increase the quality of candidates you have to choose from.

If you are unsure of how to write interesting copy hire a marketing intern or at least invest in Words that Sell by Richard Rick Bayan.
